Juan brings global experience in agriculture, conservation, innovation, and leadership—and he’ll share how founders can build the ecosystems that help their ideas grow and thrive. 🌱✨

**Juan Whiting is a fourth-generation farmer and rancher and a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he did his Masters in International Agricultural Development and continued with graduate research in Plant Breeding and Genetics. He spent eight years in East Africa working at the intersection of agriculture, conservation, and how it related to conflict and development. His time there included founding and operating a farm management company that ran organic and regenerative production systems across Rwanda.
He serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, applying his expertise as an Agricultural Specialist in Civil Affairs to support critical missions focused on winning hearts and minds through sustainable food systems. As a grant professional, Juan has led hundreds of agricultural projects globally through his company, Stray Acres Consulting, securing more than $37 million in funding to date. He is the author of "The Holistic Funding Approach" and guides businesses and nonprofits in developing funding strategies, building critical partnerships and winning the funding that helps them drive change and impact.
Juan is currently the President of the The Hinterland Institute, where he leads a national effort to train veterans to take on a new mission: restoring America’s landscapes through regenerative grazing. Under his leadership, Hinterland is developing the next generation of land stewards to help heal soils, strengthen rural communities, and revitalize hundreds of millions of acres across the United States.**
